LEADERS New Body Fitness came out on top in this top-flight thriller.

New Body started strongly with excellent shooting from GA Jodie Howell.

Poachers’ WA Nicole Birley, responded by feeding brilliant balls into her shooters but it was New Body who dominated with some fantastic mid-court play to gain an early lead.

Poachers’ GS Sally Miller, scored some superb goals but exceptional interceptions from New Body Fitness ensured they maintained their lead in the second quarter.

The third period saw some fast-paced play from both teams, with tactical changes for New Body allowing Katherine Wilberforce to move from C to a shooting position and maintain her team’s lead, despite defensive pressure from Poachers.

In the final quarter, both teams fought hard with stout defence and passionate play, however it was New Body who took the honours in the end.

ARTIFEX HOME IMPROVEMENTS 25

WETHERSPOONS maintained their winter season winning streak.

The first quarter saw some outstanding play from both teams, with fantastic passing into the circle by Wetherspoons’ C Sarah Garman.

Artifex showed strong defence, with GD Jo Davies, working hard for her team, however, it was Wetherspoons who took an early lead.

Artifex came into the second quarter with determination, remarkable defence and incredible interceptions from WD Kirsty Holmes.

Despite this spirited play, Artifex could not close the gap and Wetherspoons continued to build their lead.

In the third period. both teams began to feel the pressure, but Wetherspoons’ GA Lynsey Gardner, ensured her team’s lead with impressive shooting.

A competitive final quarter saw both teams up their game. Artifex created some good space on court but could not match Wetherspoons’ skilled play.

BASEPOINT 19

SPECTACULAR Stika claimed a convincing victory over Basepoint.

Excellent shooting from Stika’s Louise Gilmore and Ali Caller gave their team an early lead.

Basepoint GA Holly Fowler, managed to overcome great defensive work by Stika to get free and score several goals.

Basepoint showed determined play in the second quarter despite having only five players.

They continued to play with unwavering commitment and perseverance, epitomising the spirit of teamwork, but could not plug the holes left by their missing players.

Christine Janes, Basepoint GK, made some brilliant interceptions allowing her team to move the ball back down the court, but Stika’s skilled play meant they easily increased their lead and earned the victory.

GW ELECTRICAL 24

WAIKIKI 33

GW ELECTRICAL were powerless to stop a strong Waikiki side.

Waikiki started the game with fluid passing and good shooting from GS Cristal Butcher.

GW Electrical made good use of space, with some fantastic defence in Waikiki’s goal circle, but it was Waikiki who took the lead going into the second quarter.

Both teams came into the second period showing determination.

GW Electrical’s GD Caroline Goode, managed some great turnovers for her team and helped restrict Waikiki’s chances to score.

However, being one player down was taking its toll on GW, and they struggled to find free players for centre passes.

Waikiki C Jo Baldwin, made some impressive passes into her shooters in the third quarter and GW Electrical’s mid-court players fought back with boundless energy.

The final quarter saw GW Electrical come back with a vengeance, dominating with good passes and accurate shooting from Chloe van Crugton at GS.

Waikiki’s consistently good play throughout the entire match had allowed them to build up enough of a lead that they were able to buffer GW’s last-minute onslaught and come out the victors.
