DORCHESTER 19

SHERBORNE II 14

DORCHESTER made hard work of Sherborne Seconds. but eventually ran out winners against a youthful and lively side.

The home side came out focused and fired up and took an early lead when centre Jamie Morgan broke several tackles before feeding Cameron Lynch who crossed in the left-hand corner.

The conversion was missed but, Dorchester soon extended their lead when Greg Hallett picked off a lineout and touched down under the posts. Morgan added the extras.

Sherborne, led by their fly-half, began to kick for the corners. This led to two converted tries, both from close range, and both were converted.

Dorchester’s full-back, Lynch, was replaced by James Baker following a head injury and Baker’s first involvement was to score Dorchester’s third try.

Morgan converted from wide out to give Dorchester a five-point lead at the break.

Playing down the slope in the second period, Dorchester dominated the next 30 minutes.

However, they were unable to turn their dominance into points.

As the clock wound down, Sherborne broke out from their own half and battered Dorchester for the rest of the game. Dorchester lost Lee King to the bin but, against all the odds, the hosts held firm.
