MARK Jermyn praised goalscorer Matt Oldring after his Dorchester Town side beat bottom club Cinderford Town at the Avenue.

Oldring netted with seven minutes to go to seal the win after Nathan Walker opened the scoring with his ninth goal of the season just after the hour mark.

The player-manager singled out Oldring for his sterling work at the back and felt he has improved drastically in the last few

weeks.

Jermyn said: “He (Oldring) got on the scoresheet tonight and I’m really pleased for Matty. In the last two games he has conducted himself really well in midfield.

“He dropped into centre-half and was really solid.”

Speaking his side’s overall performance, Jermyn added: “Tonight could have been, after the penalty miss (from Smeeton), a very painful evening, but I’m very pleased for the players.

“They stuck at it and kept doing what we asked them to do on a difficult surface.

“They stuck to the task and ground the result out.”

Jermyn’s men have lifted themselves up to 25 points and 14th in the table with their seventh win of the season.
