WEYMOUTH & Portland travel to Warminster to lock horns with Swindon College Old Boys in the final of the Dorset & Wilts Knockout Vase on Saturday (2pm).

The Old Boys are on a roll of victories this season winning all eight of their league games and sit top of the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier League table.

The Wiltshire side have an impressive record, including seven try bonus points, which means that they have scored four or more tries in all but one of their league outings.

They have outscored all of the other teams in their division tallying up 359 points for and have conceded the fewest, 102 against and warmed up for the final with a 102-8 win at home against Phoenix last weekend which shows the almighty task that the Seasiders are to undertake if they are to return to Dorset with the Vase.

Weymouth manager Vaughan Carter said: “We start the game as underdogs, but not as big underdogs as their league table may suggest.

“I have no idea what the strength of competition in that division is as we don’t play any of the sides in it, the only data that I can draw is we beat Lytchett Minster who lost to Bradford-on-Avon and then Swindon College beat them in the last round and that’s about it.

“I know that on our day we have enough quality in the squad to give most teams a game, we have a strong side out on Saturday and training this week has gone well, the lads seem up for it and looking forward to the kick off.”

There are still a few places left for supporters on the coach on a first come, first served basis, with all to meet at 10.30am at the club.

There are no home games at Monmouth Avenue on Saturday, but the England versus Australia game is on the big screen in the clubhouse.

On Sunday, kicking off at 2pm, Weymouth & Portland second XV entertain their Dorchester counterparts in the quarter-final of the Dorset & Wilts Second Team Shield.
