WITH the first team having a weekend off, all eyes at Dorchester turn to the second XV and under-13s.
The second XV take on rivals Weymouth in the Dorset & Wilts Seconds Shield quarter-final.
A strong squad travel to Weymouth on Sunday afternoon, looking to continue the recent improvement in both results and performance.
The solid front row of Luke Doherty, Karl Makepeace and Aled Watkins look to shore up the scrum, whilst the speed in the backs with Julian Dale, Etienne Peach and Ollie Raines look to capitalise on possession earned by the forwards.
An experienced bench looks to add impact if required, with even the injury-free Russ Milford taking on the cover for front-row positions.
Tonight’s floodlit game this week falls to the under-13 side who are current Dorset & Wilts champions, they take on a strong Frome squad.
Dorchester finally surrendered their 100 per cent record last week and are looking to bounce back from that defeat.
The large squad of players have a strong forward pack that look to dominate and set the speedy backs up to blitz the Frome defence.
Last time out, the county town side overcame Frome 11 tries to nil, so it is set to be a storming game.
Many of the side will then go to Bath RFC tomorrow to train and form the guard of honour for the Bath versus Saracens match.
Sunday at 11am sees the club hosts the Santa Fun Run for Weldmar Hospice.
The two-mile run is open to all and registration can be made on the day.
Details can be found on the Weldmar hospice webpage and their social media pages.
Also on Sunday, the under-16s take on Trowbridge at Coburg Road (1.30pm).
Meanwhile, the RFU initiative “Return to Rugby” continues on Tuesday evenings at Coburg Road between 7-8pm.
The programme is aimed at returning players but is also very suitable for new players over 17. Training is structured and provided by an RFU coach so that players re-visit basic skills and get acquainted with new laws in a safe environment away from regular and established players.
