BASEPOINT 44

ALLWAYS REMOVALS 10

DEPLETED Allways were forced to concede the game to Basepoint three minutes from time due to injury.

Basepoint started the game with an advantage as Allways only had five players.

Excellent interceptions by Fiona Willcox GD, helped Basepoint even further by reducing scoring opportunities for Allways’ shooters.

Basepoint’s defence continued to dominate play in the second period but Allways’ centre Juliana Chatley, displayed great stamina to keep the ball moving through the mid-court, without the aid of a WA or WD.

Allways’ efforts were increased by the arrival of a sixth player but by this time Basepoint had found their stride and seemed unstoppable.

Basepoint WA Jenni Chalcke fed some brilliant balls into the circle, helping her shooters increase their lead.

Allways continued to push forward, with the defenders claiming some good rebounds but being one player short in the mid-court was starting to have a real impact as the game came towards its conclusion.

An ankle injury to Allways’ GA forced a call for time and with three minutes left on the clock, Allways conceded the game.

Coastal Cheeses continued to play hard, showing great teamwork.

First-class shooting from Lauren Oates helped them to close the gap towards the end of the game but it wasn’t quite enough to catch up with Girling & Bowditch.
