IT’S BACK to Dorset & Wilts One South action for Weymouth & Portland tomorrow when they entertain North Dorset Seconds (2.30pm).

Following last week’s Vase final defeat at Warminster against Swindon College Old Boys, the Seasiders are suffering a big hangover from that contest.

First-team manager Vaughan Carter said: “We asked the players to put their bodies on the line and they did and now we have lost two lads out for the remainder of the season.

“Top try scorer Joel Wilson is booked in for an operation next week on a damaged tendon in his arm and my son George underwent an operation on a torn tendon in his hand earlier this week.

“Added to that, skipper Ryan Lewendon, Dan Hayne and scrum-half Ben Melhuish who was named as man of the match last Saturday are also doubtful.

“Carl Neal’s wife is about to give birth so we may have to rely on some of the second-team players to step up to the plate.

“However, I think that we still have enough leaders in the team and in my view the best forward on the park last week, our flanker Sean Murphy had an outstanding game against the Old Boys.

“We are delaying our final selection until some players have proved their fitness.”

Before the game, the club’s sponsors will enjoy a pre-match lunch in the Monmouth Avenue clubhouse.

Weymouth & Portland Seconds visit Blandford to lock horns with the hosts’ second string.

Weymouth & Portland first-team squad: Wildman, A Bowditch, D Bowditch, K Leatham, Mason, Dixon, Allan, Young, Murphy, Drummond, Llewellyn, C Lewendon, Moncher, Rogers, A N Other.
