BRIDPORT go into this weekend’s game against Hallen looking to get back to winning ways in the Toolstation Western Premier Division (3pm).

The Bees were stung last weekend after a first-half collapse in the 3-0 defeat against Cadbury Heath, and assistant-manager Paddy Behan has said that his harsh words during his half-time team talk was all about getting the fight into the team’s performance.

He said: “Fricks (manager Adam Fricker) and I are experienced at this level and I just told them that the only people who can change things are ourselves.

“To me, someone putting in a strong tackle is as good as scoring a goal from 25 yards. It just gives the team that lift and the game just needed one of them to do that.

“Ryan Hayter is a great example, I’d have 10 Ryan Hayters in the team for his endeavour, his effort and how much it means to him, and we need more of that.

“Cadbury are a good side, and I know they beat us comfortably but they’re not a great side and we made them look better than they are which cost us the match, and that’s happened to us on a few occasions now.”

Saturday’s game sees the Bees take on bottom of the table Hallen, and Behan is confident his side can return to winning ways.

He said: “I’m confident. We’ve got a close-knit group of players who work hard for each other, and the team will continue to work hard this week just like they will again on Saturday. It’s only those lads on the pitch who can change the outcome on the pitch, so it’s no good feeling sorry for themselves.”

Behan also confirmed the return of Lee Bailey and Louis Rutter to the team, while Ed Butcher is still a couple of weeks away from fitness.
