DORCHESTER club captain Simon Mitchem insists his side need to “take responsibility” with the bat when they take on Broadstone at the Rec tomorrow (1pm).

The county town side looked to be in the box seat having bowled Sherborne out for just 103 away from home last week, but in a dismal batting display, they were rolled over for just 94 in reply.

And Mitchem is looking for much more from Dorchester as a batting unit this weekend.

He told Echosport: “I think it is key in most teams for people to take responsibility and not give their wicket away, especially in this league.

“We need two or three people each week to chip in and get us over the line.

“We know what went wrong last week and, obviously, we don’t want it to happen again. It’s just a case of getting your head down and getting the job done.”

Broadstone come to the Rec having enjoyed a sublime start to the campaign.

The Delph Woods side are currently joint top of the league at present, having only dropped one point in their first two fixtures.

David Trotter and Quentin Miller are set to come back in for Dorchester this weekend.
