DORCHESTER Sports boss Ashley James confirmed the club’s first-team will remain at the Avenue next term.

The county town side, who initially struck a deal to share the ground with Dorchester Town on their promotion to the Dorset Premier League last term, will once again feature at the venue for the upcoming campaign.

The club’s reserves have also confirmed they will be playing their fixtures at Weymouth College.

Manager James told Echosport: “We are really looking forward to playing at the Avenue again this season and would like to thank all at Dorchester Town FC for the chance to do that.

“It’s really pleasing and it’s nice to play there.

“It’s a great stadium to play in and every time we go there we do raise our game.

“Our home form was impressive last year, I think we only lost twice there in the league last season.”

Sports are set to begin their pre-season campaign on Monday with changes to their coaching structure now in place.

Steve Churchill is stepping up from his role with the reserves to assist and coach with James this season for the first-team – Gary Harvey will do the same with Andy Mallet for the reserves.

James added: “Our main aim is to keep our best players and build on last season.

“We have some really exciting new players coming pre-season and I can’t wait to go again.

“We have Christchurch coming down on the July 8, so we have to be ready for what will be a tough start.

“I’m looking forward to working with Steve, he has been around these leagues for a long time now and his knowledge and contacts will be priceless for us to move forward as will Gary’s for the reserves.”
