MIDFIELDER Charlie Davis was both “shocked” and delighted by the trio of fresh faces brought in by the Terras so far.

The 22-year-old offered his full backing to new recruits Brandon Goodship, Jake McCarthy and Callum Buckley to be huge hits at the Bob Lucas Stadium, insisting the deals were a “great statement of intent” from boss Mark Molesley.

Having played with all three of the Terras’ signings during his time with AFC Bournemouth, 22-year-old Davis cannot wait to link up with the trio once again and is excited for the club’s fans to see them in action.

“It shows a great statement of intent with the signings,” he told Echosport.

“I think people will be surprised that we have players of that calibre playing at this level, to be honest.

“I was shocked. If we had got two out of the three of them I’d have thought ‘wow, what signings’ but to get all three of them is very good. They just add to what we have got and compliment things very well.”

He added: “I am very good friends with Brandon, we have been since we were kids and I’d like to say I had a part played in it (the deal), to be honest.

“He knows Moles and he knows me well, so he knew he wasn’t getting any false information about what we want to do and things like that.

“If someone has dropped out of the Football League to join in the project we have got – for the fans, just expect goals. He is the best finisher I have ever played with.

“I had spent from the age of 10 with Brandon up until 16 and then had two years full-time with him. I spent pretty much the same time with Jake, who was a year below but used to play up a year quite a lot.

“When I played with Jake he was a centre-half. He was one of the best ball players in our team to be honest, technically on the ball he was very good, so when he got moved to play central midfield it was no surprise.

“Callum used to play central-midfield with me and then developed into a centre-half.

“I think the way he developed physically, it suits him. He’s very good on the ball and reads the game very well.”

And with a fitness programme having already been delivered his way to work on over the summer, Davis is looking forward to getting back in action.

“I think with the professionalism and the good players we have, the standards will be maintained more consistently,” he added.
