PAUL Blake will be looking to secure his first medal of this year’s World ParaAthletics Championships tonight (8.03pm) when he lines up in the final of the men’s T36 400m.

The Dorchester athlete, who bagged silver over 400m in the last two World Championships in Lyon and Doha, missed out in the 200m earlier this week after he finished eighth in the final at the London Stadium.

The 27-year-old Dorset star, currently the Paralympic champion over 400m, will face strong competition again this evening, with Australian sensation James Turner lining up in the event.

Turner, 21, broke the 200m world record twice on his way to landing gold earlier in the meet and goes into this evening’s line-up as the only man listed in the field to have broken 53 seconds over 400m.

Other notable athletes that could pose a threat to Blake’s medal charge include Ukraine’s Roman Pavlyk and Poland’s Krzysztof Ciuksza.

Ciuksza already has a silver medal at the Championships, having finished second behind Turner in the 200m.

Britain’s Blake is also set to go in the heats of the T36 100m on Saturday.
