BOSS Mark Molesley insisted the Terras need to keep working hard to realise their potential, as they continue to experiment in pre-season.

Weymouth fell to the second defeat of their friendly fixtures against full-time opposition when they were beaten 1-0 by Torquay United at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Nevertheless, manager Molesley insisted he learnt a lot from his side’s weekend display.

Speaking after the reverse against the Gulls, the Terras’ manager told Echosport: “They were a lot more physical and it is starting to get closer to the teams we are going to be playing against week in week out, so it was a great test for us

“They came out and got in our faces a little bit more (in the second half) and we just had a lull for a little bit.

“We are not a team looking for excuses. The second half, by our standards wasn’t as good as the first but we learnt a lot from the game.”

Commenting on pre-season as a whole, the Weymouth chief is determined for his side to keep their foot on the pedal.

“I think pre-season has gone as well as it could have so far,” he added.

“At the moment it’s all about how we arrive at the start of the season. We are trying to manage people’s minutes and intensities.

“I think our performances have proved that we have got some good players and potential but that’s all it is at the moment. It’s potential and it’s up to us as a group to go and realise that and keep working hard.

“I think we have played some great football. We have our beliefs in the way we want to do things and we are going to be sticking to them.”

The Terras’ next test comes tomorrow evening when they travel to Taunton Town (7.45pm)
