THE ‘commentator’s curse’ strikes again, writes Robin Potter.

Last week, I said Puddletown had the only 100 per cent record – so they promptly lost comprehensively to Cattistock.

Puddletown had much better fortune against Dewlish with a 10-wicket win of their own.

Cattistock themselves could not follow up their win, finding the St George’s bowlers too difficult to handle.

Simon Proffitt, with four wickets for just six, and Sean Walbridge’s 3-7 restricted Hazelbury to just 65, despite a brave effort from their skipper Bradley Damen who with 41 scored 63 per cent of his side’s total.

The two Matts, King and Randall, knocked these off without losing a wicket.

Plush and Charlton Down continue to vie for the Division Two title.

Plush’s total of 120 night have looked under threat when Craig Kellaway (31) and Russ Harford (36) gave Cerne Valley a good start, but no-one else got above five, leaving Cerne seven runs short.

Charlton Down had an easier win against Cattistock Seconds.

Nick Voss (49) and Joe Miller (44) set a target of 130 which Cattistock never looked like reaching, leaving the visitors victors by 32 runs. Frampton came near to breaking their duck against Abbotsbury – Simon Pengelly (63) helped the Swans to 152, then Chas Duerdoth’s 50 got Frampton close, but when he was bowled by Neil Walton in the last over, Frampton came up just three runs short.

The battle between Cosmos and Dorchester Casuals for Division Three honours warmed up with a low-scoring game between them.

Cosmos’s Rob Townley (2-13) and Jack Sapsworth (2-15) meant that Casuals could set only 90 as a target, but Sam Critchell (3-14), Dave Trotter (2-7) and James Dunham (0-7) restricted Cosmos to just 71.
