DORCHESTER club captain Simon Mitchem is aiming to “finish on a high” when his side take on title-chasing Swanage in the final Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League game of the season (1pm).

The Swans trail leaders Broadstone by six points and need to win the game to stand any chance of winning the league, but Mitchem says he will not change his team’s approach given the circumstances.

He told Echosport: “We had a good result last week and we’ll be looking to finish on a high. We’ll be looking to take our form from last week and finish on a good note.

“We’re going to treat it as any other game. It’s only right that we go out there and do our best. I’m not a believer in not putting out your strongest team.”

And Mitchem hopes the game is a repeat of the reverse fixture, when his side won by a single wicket.

“We played them at their place and had a really good game, it was really competitive. Hopefully it’s a similar sort of game to the one we have last time. When we play our best cricket we’re a challenge for anyone,” he said.

On Swanage, Mitchem believes the Swans have reaped the rewards of a settled side this season.

“They’ve had a consistent team all year. I’ve always said the more consistent your team is, the better you do. The table doesn’t lie. They have done well and credit’s due where credit’s due,” he said.

Mitchem confirmed that Jack Owens misses out through unavailability, but Will McKay returns.
