Weymouth ladies crews achieved their best results ever at the Newquay championships last weekend. There were 43 clubs attending fielding 91 crews.
Weymouth took three crews for the ladies A, B and C events. All three achieved their best-ever results with Weymouth ahead of all other Dorset clubs.
All three crews went into the second round with ladies C above the top 50. Ladies B got into the quarter finals on time and achieved 22nd place, which was the highest-ever place for a Weymouth B crew.
The ladies A got into the quarter-finals based on their first round win and second place in heat two, their final position being a fantastic 14th.
Saturday's racing had calm seas and sunny skies followed by a wet and windy Sunday. The Sunday racing was brought forward due to the adverse weather.
One Weymouth squad rower said:‘How happy I am to be part of such a fabulous squad. What a splendid weekend for so many reasons including rowing with dolphins."
The Regatta season is now drawing to a close with only the super vets' regatta in Swanage on the 14th October. Crews will then be starting winter training ready for the challenges to come in 2018.
