BUDDING windsurfers were treated to an appearance from world number three Ross Williams as OTC Weymouth played host to a special five-day clinic.

Participants were able to learn a variety of core skills including water starting, gybing and looping at the inaugural Ross Williams clinic, which took the windsurfers out into Portland Harbour.

OTC centre manager Maurin Rottenwalter felt the event was “very well received”.

He said: “All the participants improved massively. We had really good wind on the first two days and really good wind on the last day for them to go windfoiling.

“They took loads away from that, it was a really good success.

“Ross had all the 2018 kit and all the participants were able to go on the latest kit and see how that improved their sailing. Most people were quite blown away by that.

“We did loads of video coaching and Ross was out there too. Number three in the world is a pretty cool thing and when he steps in and has a chat with you and says do this or do that it was very well received.”

Next on OTC Weymouth’s calendar is a two-day NWF Winter Windsurfing camp beginning on Saturday, November 11 – the first of five monthly courses.

One or two-day places are available for £30 or £50. Any interested parties can contact OTC on 07817 717904.
