BLANDFORD based showjumper Yazmin Davis clinched victory in the penultimate qualifying leg of the 2017 World Class Programme under 23 British Championships at Addington Equestrian Centre, finishing three seconds clear of the rest of the field.

The 23 year-old produced a superb double clear with Zilvester II, owned by Alison Davis, and finished with a time of 35.11 seconds in the jump-off to take top spot in the final class of the weekend.

Last year the combination finished third in the final at Olympia, the London International Horse Show, and this win puts them back in contention for this year’s main event.

Yazmin, who is also on the BEF Excel Talent Programme, said: “I thought it was a very technical course and it showed as there were only three double clears in the class. I didn’t see how quick the other pairs went in the jump-off but we just tried to take on the turns and push until the final fence.

“Silver (Zilvester II) is on really good form at the moment and I hope that we can continue this going into Olympia.”

Second place went to Harry Wainwright and Diana Fairclough’s Pinheiro Beech which was closely followed by James Wilson and Escola M, owned by Susan Larson.

The next qualifier will take place later this month at the Morris Equestrian Centre, with the final of the Under 23 Championships to take place at Olympia.

Final placings: 1. Yazmin Davis and Zilvester II, owned by Alison Davis = 0/0 - 35.11 seconds*, 2. Harry Wainwright and Pinheiro Beech, owned by Diana Fairclough = 0/0 - 38.16. 3. James Wilson and Escola M, owned by Susan Larson = 0/0 - 39.53.
