BALTI Sports suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat at Westland Sports in a Dorset Premier League game that saw four Balti players sin-binned.

Josh Payne hit a brace for the hosts, who also saw Haydn Hodges and Szymon Matuszewski get on the scoresheet, while Sammy Nichols notched for Balti.

But Danny Andrews, Nichols, Liam Taylor and captain Phil Anderson were all sin-binned for the visitors in an ill-tempered match.

After Nichols cancelled out Payne’s early goal, Balti boss Marco Nott was at a loss to explain how his side’s display deteriorated thereafter.

He told Echosport: “It’s a bit hard to explain the performance. We played well in large parts of the game. We went back to a 4-5-1 to try and shore it up, but within minutes we didn’t track a runner from a corner which was really frustrating.

“We played some good football to get back into it and Sammy scored from 35 yards out. It looped straight up and down into the corner of the net.

“We had a bit of momentum and our discipline went awol, it was incredible really.

“Danny (Andrews) has gone in for a tackle – it was a bit rash. Their player has gone over and Danny has lost his head and ends up getting himself sin-binned.

“There were a few heated words after that. It lets the team down massively when you lose a player for 10 minutes.”

After Andrews’ indiscretion, Nott was further dismayed by three additional sin-bins for his charges.

He said: “With a minute to go until Danny came back on Andy (Nott) made a real error. He went down and it rolled underneath him.

“But our biggest enemy is ourselves, we seem to be in destruction mode, negativity is flowing on the pitch and we tried to iron that out at half-time.

“Ten minutes into the second half one of their lads stamped on Liam and he went mad. The ref has sin-binned him for chasing him, when they should have had a red card. Then 30 seconds later Sammy got sin-binned.

“They scored to make it 3-1 and just before Sammy and Liam came back on they scored again which was game over.

“With 15 minutes to go, Phil decided to query a decision as a captain and he got sin-binned. It wasn’t a bad game of football but it was ruined by sin-bins.”
