DORCHESTER Town midfielder Ollie Griggs is on the comeback trail after a series of injury setbacks.

The Magpies’ man has been out for several months due to a pubis bone problem, with doctors initially believing his ailment to be a groin hernia.

But Griggs is now stepping up his recovery with club physio Emma Tonkin as he inches closer to a playing return.

He told Echosport: “I’ve had a lot of scans, MRIs, CTs and ultrasounds and the doctors found that I had something wrong with my pubis bone so I had a cortisone injection to solve it.

“They said I’ve got problems with my legs as one tibia is longer than the other as I broke it when I was younger, which is causing these injuries, and my pelvis is out of line.

“It’s a frustrating time really, I just want to get back playing. I’ve been doing lots of rehab work to get back on the pitch.”

Asked if a date was set for his comeback, Griggs had a target of mid-December in mind.

He said: “Emma and I are doing lots of physio stuff. I haven’t had any problems or pull-ups yet, we’re taking it really slow – I just want to make sure it’s right.

“I’m hoping the middle of December – that’s my aim.”

Griggs enjoyed an excellent start to the season, scoring the winning goal in the Magpies’ 1-0 victory over Basingstoke in August, and the midfielder is aiming to replicate that display upon his return.

He said: “It was my first goal that I scored at

Dorchester and it was a nervous game. It was 0-0 for a long time, then I scored.

“It was great and I got man-of-the-match as well. It was a great feeling and hopefully there’s more to come.”

Griggs was also present at the Magpies’ 4-1 thrashing of high-flying Kettering Town on Saturday and hopes his side can earn similar results in the future.

“I watched it from the stand and the boys played awesome. We were waiting for this result for a while. We’ve been unlucky in some games where we just haven’t got there.

“But the lads deserved it, I was happy for them and hopefully we can keep getting those big results,” he said.
