WEYMOUTH have announced that Alan Pepperell has been voted in as the acting chairman following a board meeting on Sunday.

Pepperell will be acting chairman until an AGM which will take place at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Sunday February 11.

The announcement comes a week after Steve Mills stepped down as chairman due to personal reasons.

Vice-chairman Rob Bowman stepped in as acting chairman and in a message to the supporters Pepperell thanked Bowman for stepping in.

In the statement Pepperell said: "The first team are in a great league position and have important league games coming up, so please continue your great support of our wonderful club and together we can make a real difference and take this football club forward."

Pepperell also took the time to thank the volunteers that help the club.

Pepperell said: "We will also continue to back our volunteers, the majority of whom are avid Weymouth supporters.

"The fact is, we are all volunteers and we are all doing it for one main reason, our love for the club! You all put in so much time, energy and effort. We are genuinely nothing without you."

He also praised the current youth set up that the club has, saying: "We will continue to endeavour to do all we can to support our amazing youth team setup, from all ages.

"This includes, players, coaches, organisers, parents and secretaries and anyone else that I might have accidentally missed. Our under-16’s team lost their first match since 2016 on Sunday! What an incredible unbeaten run!"
