WEYMOUTH claimed another superb duo of wins against Yeovil and Bristol that raise the prospect of a title win after two more games from their latest fixtures in the South West League.

Weymouth started strongly in their first match against Bristol, with a high intensity stunning their opposition with the quality that has shown this new side dominate the league this season.

Weymouth did not allow Bristol to settle their attack and strong blocking from the front line of Stuey Jeanes, Liam Tewkesbury and Ian Denslow saw them ease to a comfortable first set win 25-17.

Setter Carl Neal found his rhythm from the offset and he and Michael Powell at middle hitter set into a terrifying partnership, nullifying the Bristol block and showing their dominance to win the second set 25-7.

Into the third set, Weymouth did not let up. Elliot Sawyer commanded the back court, finding Neal time after time allowing the setter to use all attacking options to him when called upon.

Ryan Stout, at opposite hitter, was a continuous threat to the opponents and warranted his MVP award for the game as Weymouth saw out the set 25-11, giving them a 3-0 win in the day’s first game.

In game two, Weymouth played the home side Yeovil and made one change from the first game, with Sean Hendry coming in for Stuey Jeanes. Weymouth started the first set slowly but, after a good blocking display from the front court, they comfortably took the set 25-13.

Weymouth were forced into a substitution for the start of the second set as Ian Denslow was brought in for the injured middle, Michael Powell, but captain Stout pulled an impressive run of serves out and Weymouth took the second set quickly with another 25-13 score.

With their tails up, the Seasiders turned up the style in the third set with Neal able to find all his attacking options time and again, with an exceptional middle display by Sam Groom to nullify the Yeovil blocking unit.

Midway through the set, Stout came on to set for the first time this season and carried on feeding the effective attacking unit.

James Hollands made an appearance at outside hitter and had a 100 per cent hit rate before he served out the set 25-15 for another 3-0 win, and taking their unbeaten run this season to 12-0.

Weymouth travel next to Plymouth to play the hosts and Croyde where a win in both games would see them win the title with two games to spare in their inaugural year.
