PORTLAND United are looking forward to home comforts as they look to recover from a 4-0 defeat at leaders Andover when they entertain Cowes Sports in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division tomorrow (3pm).

The Blues’ clash at Sholing was postponed on Tuesday but the islanders are looking forward to playing at the Weyline Stadium again.

Interim boss Gary Bailey said: “We are looking forward to it, it is a home game and we have not been at home for a few weeks. We have had a tough run of away games so we are looking forward to having a home game and playing back in front of our own supporters.

“We had a tough game against Andover last Saturday so we trained well this week and we always look forward to home games. We will be approaching it with an eye on getting a positive result.”

Bailey was not in charge when they last faced Cowes, which ended in a 1-1 draw, with Lewis Clarke getting Portland’s goal.

The Blues are on a difficult run of form at the moment, with one win in their last eight matches.

Bailey admits: “Confidence took a bit of a blow on Saturday, we have had a chat about it and you have got to dust yourselves down and it is important that you do not let defeats get you too low and we need to bounce back.

“We are on a poor run at the moment. Everybody in the camp is determined to try and put a stop to that.”

Alex Godfrey (ankle) will miss out while Lee Sharpe, Aston Butcher and Lewis Clarke are unavailable. Ross Doidge (hamstring) and Shaun Bessant (knee) are doubts.
