DORCHESTER Town midfielder Luke Winsper is revelling in the prospect of building for next season with the Magpies’ young stars.

Manager Steve Thompson currently possesses the likes of teenagers Kyle Egan, Tom Blair, on-loan duo Ashley Pope and Archie Collins and has also secured the services of Aaron Rodriguez on a permanent transfer.

Magpies’ fans are also hopeful that star defender Callum Rose, who will be released by parent club Plymouth Argyle this summer, will stay at the club.

Speaking to Echosport, Winsper was positive about the club’s current crop of young players.

He said: “We’ve got Rodders in now and when he’s fully fit he’s a great player. We’ve got Ash up front, he’s a great player.

“Lewis (Leigh-Gilchrist) is a good player, a young lad. He was a bit nervous on his first game when we played up at Stratford, but he’s got a lot of ability. Some of his through balls are class. He’s going to get better and better.

“Archie as well. The gaffer’s put him at left-back, he hasn’t moaned, he just gets on with it and going forward he just beats players for fun, he’s another good player.

“Obviously if they can come on loan again that would be great. Hopefully Kyle will be here and a few others. Like the gaffer said we’ve got to build for next year but we’re all fighting for places.

“We can’t just sack it off and think summer’s here, we’ve got nothing to play for. If you want to be in the team for next year you’ve got to do well.”
