DORCHESTER Town manager Steve Thompson is looking to get back to winning ways tomorrow at St Ives Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division (3pm)

He was absent as the Magpies were beaten 4-0 at the Avenue Stadium by St Neots Town on Monday and eyes a good result tomorrow, despite his side’s away form.

Thompson said: “We want to get back to winning ways, Saturday is a good opportunity, obviously our away form leaves a lot to be desired and I hope we can pick up three points or a point and get a result up there.

“Our home record is very good and it was a bit of a kick in the teeth to get beaten on Monday.”

Dorchester have had a rough time on the road this season and are currently without a win in their last 14 away matches in the league.

Despite the tough result on Monday, Thompson added: “It is not the end of the world, it is not stopping us getting to the play-offs it is not stopping us get promotion it is not relegating us so you try and learn from these things.”

The last time the two sides met it ended in a comfortable 6-0 win for the Magpies at the Avenue, with Mo Baghdadi bagging four with David Jerrard and Billy Lowes scoring once back in December.

However, when asked about 6-0 result against St Ives last time, Thompson said: “To be fair I think that was about four months ago that we played St Ives at home and beat them 6-0.

“If anything that just gives them an incentive, no one likes getting beat like that.

“I do not think that game four months ago will have much bearing on Saturday’s game.”

Thompson admits he is worried about the match being postponed, with St Ives having a home match with Redditch United postponed on Monday.

Thompson said: “I am just hopeful that the game will be on when we go there on Saturday because their game on Tuesday night was postponed, so we just want to get the game played.”

There are doubts over Luke Winsper who came off in the second half against St Neots Town and Aaron Rodriguez, who missed the game on Monday night with an injury that he picked up in the 1-0 win against Bishop’s Stortford last Saturday.

Referring to Winsper, Thompson said: “He has got an injury which he played with on Saturday and he played with on Monday. There comes a point where you cannot keep doing that and he will be assessed prior to the match.

“Hopefully we will have a full squad to choose from.”
