WITH the Wadworth 6X Dorset & Wilts One South league mathematically tied up, champions Dorchester entertain Salisbury Seconds in their last home game of the season tomorrow (3pm).

Having such a successful season, the first XV will look to put on a great display of rugby in front of their loyal supporters and the club’s main sponsor Highwood.

Tomorrow also sees the coaching partnership of Ben Parker and Rich Bament’s tenure coming to an end after two seasons.

Parker is leaving the club to pursue other rugby opportunities and former first-team player and club stalwart Bament will look forward to a welcome rest.

Two players are also stepping down from playing at first-team level in Lee King and Mark Adams.

King with more than 150 appearances for the first team and Adams with 50, will both step aside at the end of the season.

Both have given great service to the club and Adams has entered his 40th year as a player.

President Bob Andrews and chairman Nick Hodge noted their thanks and gratitude to both the coaching team and players stepping down.

There are very few changes to the squad this weekend and that consistency has been a big factor this season.

With a full-strength squad to choose from, Parker will mix the starting line up with those who have supported from the bench this season to give some game time. Alex Peel returns to fly-half following injury, Tom Bradbury returns to scrum-half and Cam Wills starts again in the back row to continue his fine form and introduction this season to senior rugby.

James Baker, this season points machine for Dorchester, starts in his familiar position on the wing.

He will be looking to extend his points tally for this season to propel him up the club rankings.

Baker now lies second in the list of club all-time highest try scorers on 104, setting his sights on going second by surpassing 115 very soon.

This season alone he has scored 32 tries and racked up 331 points.

The highest individual points score for a season is 355 by club legend Geraint Hughes. With two games left, Baker could surpass this and put himself into the club record books.

Dorchester’s other senior teams are also in action this weekend with the A XV at Salisbury Thirds while the Gladiators entertain Salisbury Fourths at Coburg Road.

The youth section take centre stage on Sunday, with the under-13s and 14s locking horns with Taunton and the hugely successful under-16 side taking on Wimborne in the semi-final of the Dorset & Wilts Cup.

Meanwhile, Weymouth & Portland will be looking to further pull away from the Dorset & Wilts One South danger zone when they entertain New Milton Seconds at Monmouth Avenue (3pm).

The Seahorses are enjoying a renaissance in the last few weeks after winning their last two games.
