WEYMOUTH & Portland coach Simon Litster says his side are in control of their own destiny as they face a fight to fend off relegation on the last day of the season tomorrow in the Dorset & Wilts One South Division.

They face Swanage & Wareham Seconds knowing that anything less than a win could potentially see them get relegated, with Bridport just a point behind.

Litster said: "We are in control now where we were totally out of control before so we are in control of our own destiny now for this season."

The Seahorses have 22 points, with Bridport currently occupying the last relegation place on 21 points but Lytchett Minster are already down with 13 points.

Litster credits a team meeting a few weeks back with how they have responded to the threat, with the Seahorses currently on a run of three successive wins.

Litster said: "We had a player meeting a few weeks ago and we asked the players what they wanted to do. Do they just want to find a level below where we are and rebuild on that or do they want to fight to stay up and they said resoundingly that we want to fight to stay up.

"We challenged them to make it happen by training hard and working to a game plan ad they have done it so that is good. I would like to say now that it looks like we are going to stay up but it is never over until the fat lady sings."

"It is looking a lot more positive but the boys really want to go out on a high. After the game we have got the players dinner so it will make it even sweeter if we won."

To be certain of survival they must win while also picking up a bonus point for scoring four tries against a Swanage side that they faced on the opening day of the season but lost 20-13.

Litster said: "We gave away a couple of soft tries in that game but we did play some good rugby we have got a better side than we had then but they have had some good results themselves. It would depends what team they bring with them.

"I remember they have quite a young side an we have probably got a heavier and bigger pack so if we can dominate them up front and win the possession that we are capable of winning I would say that we now are able to do something with it whereas earlier in the season we would win possession and not do a lot with it."
