DORCHESTER captain James Dunham is relishing the “extra spice” that comes with a derby against Bere Regis in their Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League clash at Dorchester Rec tomorrow (1pm).

Dorchester have won both their opening fixtures in convincing style, bowling Stalbridge out for 47 before dismissing 2017 runners-up Swanage for 112 to seal respective nine and five wicket wins.

And Dunham is pleased to have two extra derbies against Bere, whose skipper Rich Cole is a former Dorchester player.

Dunham told Echosport: “I’m happy there’s a few more local teams in the league. A few of our guys have played against them in previous times, so it will be good fun.

“Rich played quite a few years ago so it will add a bit of extra spice. But Rich is a good player and a nice guy that everyone gets along with.”

And Dunham was cautious over expecting to bowl teams out cheaply each week.

“We’ve always been a very strong bowling side. We’ve got seven or eight (bowlers) who could bowl 10 overs.

“We don’t expect to bowl teams out cheaply, we’ll have teams scoring 200 against us so we’ll have to be prepared for that,” he said.

Mike Peak (broken thumb) and Will McKay (unavailable) are replaced by Quenton Miller and Josh Foot.
