BUDMOUTH C clinched a league and cup double with victory over rivals Budmouth C in the Handicap Knockout Cup.

Having won the cup for the past five years, Budmouth were guaranteed a sixth consecutive success and with the Division Two title already under their belts Budmouth C were having to overcome a 14 point deficit in most matches.

Budmouth C got off to a good start when Ben Howe recovered from losing the first leg to beat Liam Critchard 21-16 in the deciding leg.

It was a similar story in the second match when Tyler Hoff took the first leg 21-10 off Nathan Calton, the recently crowned Rob Taylor Junior champion, but Calton came back strongly to secure a 2-1 win.

Budmouth C went into a 3-0 lead when Josh Clark beat Louie James in two straight legs but Budmouth D got on the score sheet when Critchard fought to a 2-1 win over Calton taking the deciding leg 21-10.

Clark restored the three-leg match lead when he overcame Hoff in two straight legs but James played very well to beat Howe 21-10, 21-17.

With the match poised at 4-2 Critchard could not afford to lose to Clark, but in a tight first leg Clark denied Critchard three times at 17-20 down and then clinched it 22-20.

Critchard came storming back in the second leg, taking it 21-12, to square things up and the deciding leg was close all the way before Clark clinched the match 21-17, as well as the cup and the double for Budmouth C.
