BEAMINSTER captain Ross Baker praised Simon Jones for his man of the match display, hitting 81 runs as Beaminster beat Kingston Lacy at home by 47 runs in County Division Two.

He also took time to praise Richard Runyard for contributing to what Baker felt was a turning point in the match when he bowled Kingston’s highest scorer John Burns for 43.

Beaminster took all 20 points from the encounter while Kingston came away with just five from the match.

Baker said: “All the top four batters contributed, Simon was outstanding again. He top scored and played a fantastic innings.

“At the interval we were pleased, we felt like that we could not have done much better than that.

“Simon was the man of the match with his 81, in the field Richard took the vital wicket of one of the middle order batters.

“He bowled a perfect yorker and that turned the game on its head really and that is how we could start to get ahead of the game and we closed it out quite well at the end and won convincingly.”
