ED NICHOLS admits that Martinstown’s game at Bere Regis could be crucial in terms of how their season could pan out in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier Division tomorrow (1pm).

Martinstown have won both of their home matches this year, against Swanage and Stalbridge, but lost their only match at Sherborne so far.

Nichols said: “Everyone has been enjoying their cricket. We have had two really good performances but there is still stuff to prove, and obviously it is quite a big difference between won three lost one and two and two so it is quite a big game for us in terms of how the season is going to shape up.

“Two wins out of three is great but then again Sherborne showed that there are things to improve on, and obviously that was our game away from home so we have done well in our own conditions but we need to show that can adapt a bit.

“We have not played them on a Saturday for a few years. A few years ago we were in the same league as them and we played them four times and it was split honours, they were all tough games.

“They are quite a good side with a number of all rounders, I think they will fight quite hard, they got a good result against Sherborne.”

Martinstown have Ryan Chase back which gives the side another spin option, while Liam Banfield is a doubt for the match.

Martinstown (provisional): House, Williams, Kershaw, Banfield, Maltby, Chase, Camp, Kennedy-Barnard, Durrant, Read
