PORTLAND Red Triangle skipper Matt Randell is confident of ending his team’s winless start to the County Division One season against Parley Seconds at Reforne tomorrow (1.30pm).

Randell’s men have lost encounters against Broadstone Seconds, Compton House and Christchurch so far this campaign, and face a Parley side who have won two of their opening three fixtures.

But the Triangle captain remains steadfast, admitting that the islanders had “earmarked” the Parley clash as winnable before the season began.

He told Echosport: “We see it as a game we should be winning. At the start of the season we earmarked it as a game we should be winning because it’s at home and they have a long travel.

“I don’t think our approach has changed at all. We’re keen to put in a good performance and hopefully get that first win, it’s just a case of people applying themselves.”

He added: “We had an extra session focusing on the first team and chatting about the areas we’re batting and bowling – there was a good turnout.

“We’ll know a lot more about our own game and what it is we plan to do to get this first win.”

Portland welcome back all-rounder Simon Proffitt and Simon Barrett, with Cameron Midgley and the unavailable Rich Samuel missing out.

Meanwhile, Portland Red Triangle Seconds have a bye weekend, and next face Poole Town Thirds at home on June 2.
