DORCHESTER Town defender Kyle Egan spoke of his happiness at signing a deal that extends his stay at the Avenue Stadium for next season.

Egan, a former Exeter City recruit, enjoyed a superb campaign for the Magpies, scoring three times including in the 2-2 Boxing Day draw with Weymouth.

The ex-Grecian was one of four players to sign alongside Chris Weale, Billy Lowes and Aaron Rodriguez for the coming term.

And the right-back told Echosport he felt it was “positive” that his future was now certain for a whole year.

He said: “I’m very happy. Knowing what I’m going to be doing for a whole season is positive.

“Especially with the other lads signings as well, we know our base of the team.”

Egan felt the club’s welcoming personnel and overall spirit had tempted him into committing his future with Dorchester Town for another season.

He said: “Steve (Thompson, manager), Trev (Trevor Senior, assistant-manager) and then all the other people involved with the club – it’s such a friendly club.

“Ever since I came on loan here with Exeter, and then after Exeter, I've only got good things to say, and Tommo’s definitely one of the main reasons.”

Egan also backed boss Thompson for supporting the development of the club’s young talent.

He said: “He’s good, he’s putting his trust in young players. We need games and he’s just put all his faith in us young lads.

“I think we all come together to play for him because he’s given us that chance.”

He added: “We want to do better than we did last season. Get a good pre-season, get a good start and then hopefully the play-offs or top half. And me personally, just to have another good year.”
