THE Dorchester & District Skittle League held their presentation evening at the Trinity Club, Dorchester in front of a crowd of more than 200.

The trophies were presented by Tony Palmer, the league’s president, who was instrumental in setting up the computer programme used by the league and who also set up the league’s website.

Skimmers were the men’s Section A champions with Section B won by Hammers. Section C champions were the Essentials and Section D was won by Unpredictable Strimmers.

The men’s Knockout Cup was claimed by Breakaways with the Plate being lifted by Puddletown Wanderers.

The Ladies’ Section was won by Crackerjacs with the Ladies’ Knockout Cup being collected by Mix Ups who beat the ladies’ champions in the final.

The singles was won by Andy Sharpe of Unpredictable Strimmers after a great night of skittles, while the Sticker-up Cup went to Lloyd Wilson of Vic Reeves.

The final 16 open pairs played off at the Trinity Club with the eventual winners being Matt King and Darren Kenny of Barmy Army.

The Secretaries Shield for the men was won by Michael Aylott of Patriots and Jennie Sims of Oakettes claimed the Ladies’ equivalent.

The Ladies’ Pairs was won by Denise Aspden and Sally Childs-Slade of Colliton Ladybirds and the trophy for the most Oxos gained in the season was Coach and Heffers with 14 who also collected the wooden spoon for the least number of points gained over the season.

Tom Hewish of Dewlish Monsters was the men’s league top scorer with 89 and Jennie Sims of Oakettes was the highest lady with 73.

Mark Scotchmer of Wurzels hit a 27-pin stickup at the Bulls Head in September.

Approximately 230 members attended the evening and, after the presentation of the trophies, there was dancing to the Rob Wall Disco and a draw which raised over £100 for league funds.

Meanwhile, the league are looking for new teams.
