DORCHESTER Town manager Steve Thompson met school children from Hua Hin in Thailand as he enjoyed a rest day during the Seniors World Cup.

Thompson brought Magpies' kit over to Thailand to give to the children at the event.

It forms part of Football for Kids, a regular feature of the competition and it involves all the participating teams coming together to put on training sessions for local school children.

The England Veterans have always embraced this event and this year was no exception. Whilst some of the squad have experienced these sessions before, others were meeting the children for the first time.

Thompson, enjoying his first time at the Seniors World Cup, described how the experience had a profound impact on him.

The Magpies' boss said: “Today was a very humbling experience. These children have very little. We weren’t able to give them a lot, but what we were able to give, both in time and an with the kit, made such a huge difference. You could see it on their faces. Its an experience I’ll never forget.

Thompson said: “If today's experience encourages just one child to want to learn English or play  football, then its been worth it. Who knows, we might have started our first Dorchester supporters club in Thailand!”
