VICE-captain Simon Mitchem feels Dorchester are a “target” ahead of a table-topping clash against Wimborne & Colehill in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League tomorrow (1pm).

Dorchester travel to the Leaze with a 15-point buffer over the second-placed Minstermen, having dropped just two points from six victorious games this season.

But Mitchem believes Dorchester will now be in the crosshairs of those behind them following their eye-catching start to the campaign.

He told Echosport: “Hopefully if we can keep doing what we’re doing we can keep winning games. When you’re at the top, you’re a target for people so we’ve got to keep doing the things we’ve already done that have worked for us.

“Whoever and wherever we’ve played we’ve had a really good attitude and people have applied themselves. We’ll be looking for the same application people have shown so far.

“The atmosphere is really good, everyone’s contributing in the same vein and really enjoying their cricket – that’s the key thing.”

On facing Wimborne, Mitchem added: “It will be a big test for us. We’ve always had competitive games against Wimborne. It will be two strong teams and I’m sure they’ll be looking forward to it as much as we are.

“They’re a good side and we’re going to have to play to our standard to make sure we get the result we want.”

Captain James Dunham and Josh Richardson return for Jack Owens and James Caldwell.
