BERE Regis vice-captain Garry King feels Swanage are an “unknown” as the two sides prepare to meet in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League at Bere Regis Rec tomorrow (1pm).

The Swans finished runners-up to eventual champions Broadstone by just six points last season, but have made a poor start to the following campaign, picking up just one win from seven games to sit in last place.

But King, who played in last week’s victory over Broadstone, expects a scrap between the respective teams, who are old foes from the lower leagues.

He told Echosport: “Hopefully we can pick up another win. We used to play Swanage all the time and it used to be us and them always fighting for the title in the lower leagues.

“They pipped us and got to the Premier League before us. They’ve got quite a different side now so we don’t know what to expect from them, playing against an unknown.

“It should be an interesting one – we need to get back to winning at home.”

Bere welcome back pace bowlers Crispin Brown and Rich Payne but King praised his spin bowlers after they did well at Delph Woods last time out.

He said: “As it was, they bowled, really, really well. Maybe the (seamers) won’t get given the new ball!”
