DORCHESTER captain James Dunham insists his team’s recent dip in form is merely a “little blip” ahead of a trip to second-bottom Sherborne in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League tomorrow (1pm).

Dunham’s men have lost successive games against Wimborne & Colehill and Broadstone having begun the season with six consecutive victories.

Dorchester now lie in third place behind leaders Wimborne and second-placed Poole, and Dunham is optimistic his side’s drop-off in results will not continue.

He said: “We’ve come across some very strong opponents the last couple of weeks. We’ve been outplayed both games. It’s something we’ve all accepted.

“Hopefully the little blip we’ve had is over. To go six unbeaten and then lose two, I’d like to think it’s a little blip. We’ve got a strong side and we’ll be ready for it. We’re not the leaders that everyone’s chasing – that may work in our favour. We’ll be looking for a big win.”

On Sherborne, Dunham would not entertain thoughts of an easy match, despite the north Dorset outfit’s league placing.

He said: “Sherborne have probably got a better record against us head-to-head.

“They’ve had some very good sides consistently for four or five years. That’s the big indicator not to play it on league position.”

The unavailable Josh Foot, Bharat Popli, Will McKay and Will Caldwell are replaced by Dunham himself, former overseas player Aaron Samynathan plus duo Ben Macklin and Dan Morris, who scored 32 and 34 respectively for Dorchester Seconds last time out.
