PUDDLETOWN celebrated their promotion-winning season with a charity dinner and dance at the George Albert Hotel, near Dorchester.

Number eight Pearce Mercer was crowned first-team players’ player of the year, while Callum Williams picked up the second-team player of the year accolade.

The club will now play in Dorset & Wilts One South next season and 130 people attended the celebration which included a three-course dinner, the annual club awards, a charity auction and a raffle.

Club chairman Ray Stephens compered the evening, with ex-player Graham Osmond assisting as the auctioneer.

The auction and raffle raised approximately £3,000 for local charities that include the Weldmar Hospice.

The winners were awarded a trophy and a crate of beer from sponsors Piddle Brewery.

The club would like thank all the people that attended the dinner and dance and also the companies and individuals that sponsored the event and provided auction lots and raffle prizes.

Pre-season training started on Tuesday at Greenfields, Piddlehinton and will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from then on. New players of all abilities are welcome.

The club awards were handed out by head coach Sam Cload and club captain Sam Bailey.
