WEYMOUTH captain Harry Mitchell expects a “one-off” occasion with rivals Charlton Down in their County Division Two derby tomorrow (1.30pm).

Mitchell’s men have closed the gap to leaders Witchampton to just 12 points with three consecutive victories, but face a Down team fresh from back-to-back triumphs themselves.

And Mitchell is wary of the ammunition that Charlton Down possess ahead of the clash.

He told Echosport: “Local derbies are always a one-off, regardless of form.

“They’ve got match-winners in their team with Nick Voss, the Stevens brothers and Sam Roles, so we need to be on our game.

“If we win ugly, we win ugly, it would be nice to get a win.

“Our away form is very encouraging, especially to some of the bigger sides in the league.”

But Mitchell is wary of the Herrison Oval pitch and feel the Seasiders must improve on the extras count.

He said: “I played their in midweek (for Cosmos) and I thought the pitch was pretty bad, it took a lot of spin.

“We need to do better with the ball with 51 extras last week.

“If we can improve on that we’ll be in better stead.”

Weymouth are set to make four changes to the side that beat Kingston Lacy by three wickets last time out, as Dom Webb, Simon Browne, Sam Tompkins and Tom Reed return.

They come in at the expense of Andy Jeffreys, Paul Collins, Neil Walton and Dean Janaway.
