DORCHESTER captain James Dunham respects the threat Swanage possess ahead of their Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League clash at Dorchester Rec tomorrow (1pm).

Last season the Swans finished second in the league to champions Broadstone, causing Dunham to be cautious despite enjoying a five-wicket victory in the return fixture in May.

However, Dorchester lost a last-ball thriller against Stalbridge last time out having previously bowled them out for 47 in their season’s opener – providing Dunham with proof that no two games are the same.

He told Echosport: “(Swanage) finished second last year so they’ve definitely got the potential to beat most teams. Judging by last Saturday we can’t judge an opponent by how we got on (earlier in the season).

“We’ll treat them as any other team in the Premier League. Last week wasn’t the easiest defeat to take, not that any are.

“We’re still playing good cricket. We hit 280 which not many teams do week in, week out. There’s a lot of positives to take and we’ll focus on them.”

Dorchester are set to make two changes for the match, with Will McKay and Billy Baker missing out.

Dunham said: “Will is unavailable and Billy drops down to the second team, which brings up Eiron Fitzgerald after scoring 52 last week, and Simon Mitchem.

“Simon had a bad back so it’s good to have him back as a player and vice-captain.”
