MEMBERS of South Dorset Tai Chi joined around 60 experienced Tai Chi and Qigong practitioners who attended the annual Tai Chi Interfest.

The event, was held at the National Centre for Sporting Excellence at Lilleshall.

Each day began, between 6.30am and 7am, with up to an hour of Qigong (Chinese health exercises) in the gardens led by Professor Yang Bai Long, a world famous Grand Master.

Professor Yang also gave a Master class on “Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong 12 forms” on the first day.

Martial Arts Grand Master, Professor Li Deyin, gave a Master class on the standard, “Simplified Tai Chi in 24 Forms”, created by his uncle, Li Tianji, in the 1950s.

This Tai Chi sequence is now practised worldwide for health and relaxation.

Top British masters also took classes, including Faye Yip, Tary Yip, Richard Watson and Simon Watson. Professor Li’s wife, Fang Mishou was also on hand.

Subjects covered included Tai Chi Sword, Tai Chi “Sunset Fan”, Seated Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong and Xing I (pronounced Shing ee), a very dynamic martial art.

Today, Master Tary Yip will be in Weymouth for the first two, of a series of four, workshops organised by South Dorset Tai Chi.

Tomorrow, he will be running two more workshops, in conjunction with Bao’s Longfei organisation, in the Yeovil area.
