DORCHESTER Enduro racer Jack Nixey took a superb victory in the Clubman Overall category at the Welsh two-day Enduro around the rolling terrain of Llandrindod Wells.

Set in the heart of Wales, the gruelling 140-mile event attracted competitors from Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, France and far-flung destinations such as Australia and the Falkland Islands.

Organiser and clerk of the course Phil Wilkinson set a dust schedule amid the tried and tested single-lap with 10 time checks and three special tests giving riders a great variety and challenge.

Nixey, 22, put in a stunning ride in glorious conditions to lead home Harry Houghton and Martin Rowan in the Clubman class.

Nixey, a fraud analyst, works to fund his racing, and earlier this season qualified for the Erzbergrodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble 2018 in Austria, regarded as the hardest Enduro on the planet.

Facing over 2,000 racers, with only the quickest 500 qualifying, Nixey claimed 401st to earn his place at the world’s toughest race.

This week Nixey is training in the Netherlands on top-class Grand Prix tracks as he bids to improve his riding skills.

Should Nixey’s progress continue, an eventual move up into the Championship or Pro Enduro class is likely.

Next year, the county town rider is aiming to compete in more World Series events, while his upcoming main event is a British Enduro round, again set in mid-Wales, before returning to compete locally.
