ST GEORGE’S consolidated their title win with a comfortable victory over Bere Regis in the Read Woodruff Dorchester & District Evening League.

Stuart Beasley hit 61 which had set Bere up for a good target but Matt King’s five wickets for 15 at the end kept them to 145-9.

This proved little problem for the Saints as Garry King (51no) and Tim Goodhew (44) led them to a seven-wicket win, using only 14 of the allotted 20 overs.

Attention now switches to the other end of the table, where Plush played two games on consecutive days in their efforts to avoid relegation.

Against Puddletown, Pete Moxom’s 85 was not enough to counter 86 from Lucas Allen and 62 not out from Adam Barrett as Puddletown triumphed by 20 runs.

Plush did much better at Martinstown as Andy Legg’s excellent 83 not out, supported by some rapid scoring from Declan Chubb 25 not out set Martinstown too high a target, despite Ben Dodge’s 30.

Andy Legg’s 2-9 and Pearce Mercer’s 2-19 gave Plush a 95-run win.

The bottom of the table now looks extremely tight, with the dreaded play-offs a distinct possibility.

It is now clear that Dewlish will be reclaiming their place in the top division after a number of late results were added to the table.

Charlton Down have chased them hard, their latest results including a return for Sam Roles, who scored 32 before eschewing his usual wicketkeeping duties where he took 2-20 against Dewlish.

However, D House (30) and Dan Belt (37no) helped ensure Dewlish’s victory and promotion back to Division One.

The Division Three title is also now decided as Dorchester Casuals kept up their 100 per cent record with a six-wicket defeat of Frampton.

Chris Walbrin with 47 did his best to get Frampton to 111-7.

Rohan Scott’s 3-14 was the pick of the bowlers but Hayden White’s 34 not out led Casuals home to victory and promotion.

Elsewhere, Roger Frapwell was in sparkling form for Charlton Down Seconds as his unbeaten 53 against Winfrith.

This was aided by 2-14 from Kieran Heath, led them to a 24-run win despite a spirited 40 not out from D Joins.

Amjad Gill’s 3-18 against Puddletown Rugby Club set Roger up and he obliged with 55 not out as Charlton Down won with all 10 wickets still intact.
