DORCHESTER skipper James Dunham feels it is “too early” to label his side’s Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League clash with fellow title chasers Poole Town as season-defining.

Dunham’s men host Poole at Dorchester Rec tomorrow (1pm) looking to complete a rare double over Town, who are the joint pacesetters with Wimborne & Colehill on 203 points.

Dorchester sit eight points beneath the lead pair in third and know a win could propel them into at least second with five games remaining.

But a cautious Dunham told Echosport: “There’s eight points between the top three. It’s great for the league and it’s nice we’re in contention.

“There’s no definite winner of the league and I think it will go down to the last couple of games. We’ll push it as far as we can this year.

“It’s a bit too early (to be season-defining) – we’ve all got to play each other. Every team is more than capable of beating the top four sides.”

On the challenge of facing Poole, Dunham is planning to use home advantage to triumph.

He said: “We’ve got to beat the best to be up there at the end. Poole have got a lot of depth in both the batting and bowling.

“We’ll have to use our knowledge of the pitch to come out winners.”

Dorchester make two changes from last week’s derby win over Bere Regis, with George Foot and Martyn Richards replacing unavailable duo Will McKay and Ben Macklin.
