DORCHESTER Town have announced the signing of centre-forward Cameron Allen from Bristol Rovers on a one-month loan deal.

Allen, who has also had a spell with Bristol City, where he finished as the top scorer in the Robins’ 2016/17 under-18 campaign, becomes Dorchester’s third forward, joining Ash Pope and Alex Stafie at the Avenue Stadium.

Last season, Allen was involved with Bristol City’s under-23s and scored a superb effort against Cardiff City, only to move across the city to Rovers this summer, where he is now part of Chris Hargreaves’ development squad.

Commenting on the signing, Dorchester boss Steve Thompson feels Allen will add an extra dimension to the Magpies’ attack.

He told Echosport: “Cameron is a centre-forward. We’ve tried hard to get an experienced centre-forward in – that’s not materialised.

“I felt (Cameron) is an option we didn’t have, he’s a bit more physical up top. He’s a big lad and can hold the ball up.”

Allen is the latest Pirates’ player to join Dorchester in Thompson’s tenure after winger Mo Baghdadi and striker Cameron Ebbutt enjoyed loan moves with the Magpies last season.
