MOTLEY CREW LADIES 306

THE UDDERS 261

A SUPERB 65 on the final hand backed up a consistent performance as Motley Crew Ladies beat The Udders who travelled from Barnstaple, North Devon, by 46 points in a 306-261 scoreline.

Both teams started out quietly, with an oxo from the visitors, the hand ended up with only a pin difference in favour of the Weymouth ladies.

The second continued at a leisurely place, the Udders taking four pins giving them the lead by three.

In the third hand the tables flipped over with Motley pulling back six pins giving them the lead of three.

The fourth saw the Weymouth girls up their game by hitting 51, the Barnstaple Ladies appeared to be stuck in the mud taking only 36, giving the home side a lead of 18.

Motley continued pulling pins in the penultimate hand, taking a further six and the sound of the Udders’ bells were silenced.

The final hand saw the Crew throw their best hand of the night with a whopping 65.

Crew paid thanks to a lucky 13 square for anchor lady Terri Saddington, with a peal of the Udders’ bells their leading lady Rebecca Webber took an 11 stick-up.

However they were still up against it, hitting a total of 44 meaning Motley took the three points for a home win by 45.

KING CON PINS 353

MOTLEY CREW MEN 335

THE men’s side did not fare as well however, as Motley Crew travelled to Chard to face the King Con Pins in the Serious About Events British Skittle Championship, going down by 18 points in a 353-335 defeat.

The home side had a mixed bag of a hand including 14 from Paul Banfield and Motley’s reply failed to capitalise, matching their hand of 54.

The second saw King Con’s advance by six but the Crew pulled back three in the third with the help of David Clark’s lucky 13 square.

As the game progressed the Chard lads upped the pace, with Andrew Finn starting his side off with a 13 and anchorman Andrew Enticott finished with a 12 giving them a whopping 68.

The Weymouth boys could not match the score and were left trailing by 16 pins.

The fifth saw Motley pull back four pins with a 15 stick-up from captain Dave Maloney.

Into the last hand King Con Pins hit 59 giving the Crew a chance to take the game if they put in a whopper of a hand, but sadly the whopper was not meant to be as they hit 53, losing the match by 18 pins.
