BERE Regis captain Rich Cole feels the availability of his entire squad for the visit of Broadstone to Bere Regis Rec is “good to see” ahead of their Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League clash tomorrow (1pm).

Such is the strength of Cole’s group, pace bowler Crispin Brown is dropped to the second team this week – a decision Cole insists is not “based on skill”.

He told Echosport: “We’ve got a full squad. Everyone’s ready to play cricket this weekend, which is good to see.

“Crispin was also available and he’s been put in the seconds this week along with Nick White. It’s not a decision based on skill, it’s making sure people have their turn in the seconds.

“We’re just trying to keep it rotating. It’s nice to have a full squad but it’s getting to that stage of the season where we’ve got nothing to play for.”

On facing fourth-placed Broadstone, who suffered a four-wicket loss to Cole’s men in June, the Bere skipper is “quite hopeful” of getting a positive result.

“It was a really close, hard-fought game. It looked like they had a similar team to the rest of the season. Considering we’ve got a much stronger team than we had up there I’m quite hopeful,” he said.

Bere Regis: M King, Payne, Murphy, Rich Cole, Griffiths, Rogerson, Goodhew, G King, Rob Cole, Walbridge, Keegan

Elsewhere, in County Division Five action, Bere Regis Seconds make the tricky trip to Witchampton Seconds.

Should the match be fulfilled, any result would be the first between the sides this season following the cancellation of the reverse fixture.
