BRIDPORT boss Adam Fricker is wary of a wounded Buckland Athletic ahead of their meeting in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division tonight (7.30pm).

Fricker’s men make the journey to Devon having taken four points from their opening two games, but Athletic, who finished fifth last season, have lost each of their opening three fixtures.

Speaking to Echosport, Fricker feels the Bucks will soon “hit the ground running”.

He said: “Buckland haven’t started that well but we’re certainly not going to be taking them lightly, that’s for sure.

“They will hit the ground running, they’re a very good side. We go down there missing Chris McGrath and Kam Andrews, who are both away, and Louis Rutter who’s still out injured.

“Defensively we’ll have to have a reshuffle but we’ll give it a good go. Hopefully we can take advantage of the start they’ve had.

“I believe they’ll come good. You’ve only got to look at their team and they’re a good side. You don’t want to be the team that faces the backlash from it.

“They got beaten 4-1 on Saturday by Roman Glass St George and we will be very wary of them. Also, I’m very conscious that midweek down at Buckland they can draft players in if they need to.”

Former Somerset wicketkeeper James Regan comes into the squad, along with James Cox.
