BOTTOM hosts top in Dorset League Division Three tomorrow as Portland Red Triangle welcome Christchurch to Reforne (2pm).
The islanders have won just once this season while Christchurch have suffered only one defeat themselves. But Triangle skipper Matt Gomm is far from concerned at the prospect of playing the league leaders and has urged his players to make home advantage count.
He said: “On paper it’s a mismatch but we’re more than happy being the underdogs. There’s been three or four games this season that have gone down to the wire and unfortunately they haven’t gone in our favour, so despite being at the bottom of the table I’m not worried.
“The only problem we seem to have is that we can’t get our batting, fielding and bowling to work together in the same game, one aspect always seems to let us down.
“Christchurch are the form side in the division but there’s no reason for us to worry because on our day we can beat anyone.
“We’ve got home advantage as well and Reforne is a difficult place for teams to come. We need to try and make it a fortress now.”
Triangle will also be keen to avenge the 159-run opening day defeat at the hands of tomorrow’s visitors.
Portland RT: Gomm, Adkins, Leake, Proffitt, Laws, Sawyer, Barrett, Strong, Whisker, Gates, Malpas.
* Portland’s second string visit winless Witchampton in Division Eight (2pm).
The islanders currently lie third with promotion aspirations still very much alive.
Portland RT Seconds: Tombs, Neven, D Males, M Males, Lamming, Farley, Locke, Randell, Clifford, Redfern, Morris.
